Biden explains why he decided to come to Kiev

“If we hadn't gone, then who would have shown leadership? I didn't think of it that way, that I should go to Ukraine. I thought it was important that we treat Ukraine as an independent country. I wanted to let them know that we are there for them,” Biden stated.

According to Biden, this was the best way to show support for Ukraine. He did not believe Putin would try to infringe on the life of the American president, but was concerned because of the radical elements in Ukraine who were working with the Russians, RBC-Ukraine reported.

“That's why we took the best people who were with us during the 10-hour train ride,” Biden noted.
