Changpeng Zhao was transferred to a reintegration center before his release in September

This follows from the data on the official website of the US Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP).

On the same portal there is an explanation of what RRCs are. They are administrative complexes, also called “halfway houses”.

Their purpose, according to the BOP website, is to assist prisoners and help them adjust to life on the outside.

“RRCs provide a safe, structured, supervised environment, as well as employment counseling, financial management assistance and other programs and services. RRCs help inmates gradually re-establish their ties to the community and facilitate supervision of ex-offenders during this stage of reentry,” according to the relevant section of the BOP website.

Recall, the court sentenced Zhao to four months in prison on April 30, 2024. Earlier, the former CEO of Binance pleaded guilty to money laundering and improper implementation of norms of counteraction to these activities, after which he left his post.

Zhao arrived at Lompoc Federal Prison on his own in early June. He was serving his sentence in FCI's Lompoc II unit, which is characterized by comparatively more lenient supervision measures.

Zhao is expected to be released at the end of September 2024. Earlier, he announced his new project, an education platform.

In a recent interview, current Binance CEO Richard Teng noted that CZ no longer has anything to do with running the exchange.
