US President Donald Trump has announced the signing of the first phase of a peace plan between Israel and Hamas, which provides for the rapid release of all hostages and the withdrawal of Israeli troops.
“I am proud to announce that Israel and Hamas have signed the first phase of our peace plan. This means that ALL hostages will be released very soon, and Israel will withdraw its troops to an agreed line, which will be the first step towards a lasting, long-term and eternal peace,” Trump wrote.
Trump stressed that all parties will be treated fairly and thanked the mediators from Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey for their role in achieving this historic and unprecedented event.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared it a great day for Israel and said he would convene the government on Thursday to approve the agreement and bring all hostages home.
