Military and businessmen created a multi-million dollar scheme to embezzle generators for the AFU

The GBI has completed a pre-trial investigation of the commander of the military unit, his deputy, as well as two entrepreneurs.

In 2022, entrepreneurs, who are engaged in the sale of generators, colluded with the deputy commander of the military unit. He was to ensure the victory of the company controlled by the businessmen for the purchase of a thousand diesel generators for the AFU. The contract amounted to about 43 million hryvnias.

After the conclusion of the agreement, the businessmen did nothing for almost two months. Instead, they concluded an additional agreement. According to the document, the number of generators already ordered in China was reduced by 133 units, but the amount of the contract remained the same.

These 133 generators were subsequently misappropriated by the businessmen, and the state budget lost more than 5 million hryvnias because of this.

The commander of the military unit is accused of negligent attitude to military service (part 4 of article 425 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), his deputy - of inaction of military authority (part 4 of article 426 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). They have already been taken into custody with the possibility of bail in the amount of 150 thousand hryvnias.

The director of one of the enterprises has chosen a measure of restraint in the form of personal commitment.

The deputy director of another enterprise is accused of embezzlement of property by abuse of office and inaction of military power (part 3 of Article 27 part 5 of Article 191, part 4 of Article 27 part 4 of Article 426 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). He was elected a measure of restraint in the form of detention with the possibility of bail in the amount of 5 million hryvnias.

The sanctions of the articles provide for punishment in the form of imprisonment up to 12 years.
