Trump announces conversation with Putin

"I will be talking to President Putin on Tuesday. A lot of work was done over the weekend," he said.

He added that he wants to see if we can end this war, Reuters reported.

"Maybe we can, maybe we can't, but I think we have a very good chance," Trump said.

Trump is trying to get Putin to agree to a proposed 30-day ceasefire, which Ukraine agreed to last week, while both sides continue to exchange massive airstrikes and Russia has moved closer to pushing Ukrainian troops out of their months-old bridgehead in Russia's western Kursk region.

Asked about concessions, Trump said: "We're going to talk about territories. We're going to talk about power plants."

He added that the US has already discussed a lot of things with both sides.

"Both with Ukraine and Russia, we're already talking about it, sharing certain assets," Trump summarized.
