Trump demands compensation from Canada

"I will not allow this bridge to open until the United States receives full compensation for everything we have given them and, importantly, until Canada begins to treat the United States with the fairness and respect we deserve. We will start negotiations immediately. Considering everything we have given them, we should probably own at least half of this asset. The revenues generated by the US market will be astronomical," Trump wrote.

Trump accused Canada of treating the US very unfairly for decades.

He was outraged by the construction of the bridge, as Canada owns both parts of it and allegedly built the facility almost “without using American materials.”

According to Trump, former US President Barack Obama senselessly gave them a concession so that they could circumvent the “Buy American” law and not use American materials, including American steel.

Trump mentioned restrictions on American alcohol in Ontario, high Canadian tariffs on dairy products from the US, and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney's desire to conclude an agreement with China.
