During a conversation with participants in the “coalition of the determined” meeting, US President Donald Trump stated that Europe must completely stop buying Russian oil and begin to exert economic pressure on China in order to promote peace in Ukraine.
Trump stressed that Europe must stop buying Russian oil, which finances the war, as Russia received €1.1 billion from sales to the EU in one year, CNN reports.
“The president also stressed that European leaders should apply economic pressure on China for financing the Russian war,” the source said.
He did not comment on discussions about what the US contribution to potential security guarantees for Ukraine might be.
