Kirill Dmitriev, the Russian president's special representative for economic cooperation with foreign countries, said that the position of President Donald Trump's administration on Ukraine's membership in NATO coincides with the Russian dictator's views.
“I think Ukraine's membership in NATO, as our president stated, is absolutely impossible. And that, I think, has been widely recognized, particularly by President Trump's administration,” he said in an interview with Fox News.
He added that some form of security guarantees might be acceptable.
Putin wants lasting peace in Ukraine, and that he has publicly voiced some conditions for that.
He was asked if Russia would go with aggression against other states if a peace agreement on Ukraine was reached.
“There are so many false and fake narratives, like that Russia might go after Europe. I think that's just a crazy idea. The problem is there are so many crazy people and they're all talking about it. I think President Trump is very realistic, he knows it's not going to happen,” he said.
