Trump wants to meet with Putin very quickly

Trump did not specify a specific timeframe for the meeting, which will be the first between the two leaders since Russia's war against Ukraine began in February 2022, Reuters reported.

Asked about a strategy to end the war, Trump said the situation depends on Putin.

“Well, there's only one strategy, and it's up to Putin. I can't imagine he's thrilled with the way things are going because it's not exactly good for him either,” he said.

Trump noted that certain events require him to officially take office as president.

“I would have done it sooner, but you have to get into office. For certain things you have to be there,” he said.
