Trump’s signature to appear on dollars

This move would be a first in history for a sitting president, as U.S. paper currency has traditionally featured the signatures of the Secretary of the Treasury and the Treasurer, not the president.

These plans coincide with efforts to place Trump’s image on a coin, which has also drawn criticism because federal law prohibits the depiction of a living president on U.S. currency.

The Treasury Department states that the plan to place Trump’s signature on all new paper banknotes is intended to honor the country’s 250th anniversary, and that the banknotes will also feature the signature of Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.

Bassent noted in his statement that there is no more fitting way to honor the historic achievements of our great country than by issuing U.S. dollar bills bearing Trump’s name.

U.S. Treasury Secretary Brandon Beach stated that printing Trump’s signature on U.S. currency is not only appropriate but also well-deserved.
