Ukraine is rapidly dying out

Compared to 2023, the number of births decreased by 10.71 thousand, or 5.7%, while the number of deaths - only by 0.2%, or 1.15 thousand.

According to the Ministry of Justice, in the second half of 2025, the dynamics of indicators became slightly better: the number of registered births compared to the first half of the year increased by 1.6% to 89.02 thousand, while the number of deaths decreased by 2.7% to 244.12 thousand.

As for the indicator of the ratio of the number of registered deaths to the number of births by region, it is the worst in Kherson and Donetsk regions - 11 and 8.5 times respectively. The indicator is significantly worse than average in Zaporizhzhya and Sumy regions - 4.7 times, Kharkiv region - 4.5 times and Chernihiv region - 4.4 times.

The best this indicator is in Rivne region - 1.6 times, Transcarpathian and Volyn regions - 1.7 times, Kiev - 1.8 times, Chernivtsi region - 1.9 and Lviv region - two times.
