On September 10, the US House of Representatives voted in favor of a defense policy bill.
The $892.6 billion budget was supported by 231 congressmen, with 196 voting against it, according to The New York Times.
Despite widespread opposition from Republicans to providing military aid to Ukraine, the defense policy bill allocates $400 million to the Pentagon's initiative to provide security assistance to Ukraine.
The House of Representatives rejected a proposal by Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, a Republican from Georgia, to cut funding for Ukraine, with both Republicans and Democrats voting against it.
Lawmakers added a requirement for the Pentagon to report to Congress if the administration plans to cancel or suspend military aid to Ukraine that has been approved by Congress.
