The US has given India a 30-day permit to purchase Russian oil that is currently stored on tankers at sea.
The US Treasury Department has taken this step to ensure the continued supply of oil to the global market.
The US Treasury Department is granting India 30 days of access, allowing Indian oil refineries to purchase Russian oil.
“This precautionary short-term measure will not bring significant financial benefits to the Russian government, as it only allows transactions with oil that is already stuck at sea,” wrote US Treasury Secretary Scott Besent.
Bessent added that India is an important partner for the US and expressed hope that New Delhi will increase its purchases of American oil.
