Wuthering Heights Trailer Released Starring Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi

Emily Bronte's Wuthering Heights is an English classic, so it's no surprise that when the casting of the main characters was announced, there was a stir in the British press.

As we've already reported, the BBC reviewer practically trashed the casting. Catherine is a teenager who lives on a farm in England in the late 1700s. Heathcliff is a black foundling of about the same age. The novel was published in 1847 and it's unlikely that readers have imagined them as exact copies of Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi since then, - the author of the article joked, noting that the actress is already 34 years old, and the actor is 27.

The author of the article also recalled that "Heathcliff's dark skin is mentioned several times in the novel" and in one of the previous film adaptations of Wuthering Heights, Heathcliff was already played by a black actor, which makes the choice for Elordi even more incomprehensible.

Finally, the author wrote, referring to Robbie and Elordi, "when someone has pearly white teeth, flawless skin, sleek hair and a gym-honed physique," it is unclear how they will play heroes of the 18th century, when there were no stylists, nutritionists and personal trainers.

Frankly, this last remark of the critic discredits everything he wrote about the future film, since, if we proceed from this criterion, actors in historical films should be toothless (as, obviously, was the case in reality).

By the way, the scandalous Italian film classic Pier Paolo Pasolini did this in his film adaptations of "The Decameron" and "The Canterbury Tales" - but he also decided to do this only with extras. It is difficult to watch, to put it mildly.

One way or another, but the trailer that has just been released removes all these big and small questions. It's hard to judge Elordi's performance, but Margot Robbie is simply magnificent, proving herself as a dramatic actress.
