President Volodymyr Zelensky will visit the White House on August 18 for one of the most significant meetings of his presidency.
A senior Ukrainian official close to the president said that Zelensky's goal at this meeting will be to establish a productive peace process without forcing Ukraine to take impossible steps, such as withdrawing troops from the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, the Financial Times reports.
To this end, the Ukrainian president is ready to make an acceptable compromise on the current front line that Ukrainians could accept, the official said.
Some fear that Zelensky's tough stance could anger Trump. This could once again jeopardize US military and intelligence support.
