Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that the main priority is to resolve the Ukrainian crisis peacefully.
He recalled the peace talks in February-April 2022, first in Belarus and then in Turkey, and blamed their failure on the “Kiev regime,” which listened to the advice of its Western curators and chose instead to continue the war, according to the Russian Foreign Ministry.
Lavrov recalled the three rounds of Russian-Ukrainian peace talks in Istanbul this spring and noted some progress that had been made on humanitarian issues, such as the exchange of prisoners of war, the return of the bodies of the dead, and the like.
“In addition, each side presented its vision of the prerequisites for ending the conflict. The heads of the delegations remain in direct contact. We expect the negotiations to continue,” he said.
