The Latvian Air Force has detected a foreign unmanned aerial vehicle entering the country’s airspace.
According to a statement from the Latvian Ministry of Defense, an unidentified drone entered the country’s territory from Russia.
Early warning systems detected a sound resembling an explosion in the Krāslava district.
Units from the National Armed Forces, the State Police, and the State Border Guard are at the scene.
Reports indicate that drone debris has been found. No civilians were injured, and no damage was caused to civilian infrastructure. The circumstances of the incident are still being investigated.
There is no threat to the safety of the civilian population or to Latvia’s airspace.
