“I see the approach not so much of a turning point as of contact on a truce, which is still very far away in Ukraine,” she said.

Meloni stressed that the key issue remains unresolved, Sky TG24 reports.

“There is a peace plan, which also contains many issues that have been resolved on paper, except that we are very far from resolving the main issue, namely the issue of territories that Russia continues to claim, which, in my opinion, is completely unjustified,” Meloni said.

Meloni claims that there has been good progress in the peace talks on the issue of security guarantees for Ukraine.

“I see important steps forward in the documents that we are certainly working on now. Very good work has been done on security guarantees for Kyiv, which, incidentally, is based on the Italian proposal to form them according to the model of Article 5 of the North Atlantic Treaty,” she said.
