Ukraine may get offensive weapons

Sending offensive weapons would be a significant shift for Trump, who recently tried to say he would only provide defense weapons to avoid escalating the conflict, Axios reported.

Two sources said it was likely to involve long-range missiles that could reach targets deep inside Russian territory, including Moscow.

A new initiative unveiled at a meeting between Trump and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte would have European countries pay for U.S.-made weapons to be sent to Ukraine.

The plan was proposed by President Vladimir Zelensky during the NATO summit two weeks ago.

One of the things that convinced Trump to provide Ukraine with weapons was a phone conversation on July 3, in which Putin made it clear that he planned further escalation.
