A Ukrainian man has been detained in the Polish city of Sopot on suspicion of attacking local water supply equipment.
According to the prosecutor's office, the damage to the water supply infrastructure occurred on July 15, Polsat News reports.
On July 21, police arrested Igor G., who is suspected of breaking into a deep well in Sopot, located in the Trójmiasto Landscape Park.
The 36-year-old Ukrainian has been charged with three crimes: destruction of elements of the water supply network, damage to five electrical panels, and theft with the intent to appropriate the identity card of the identified victim.
He has partially admitted his guilt in committing the crimes he is accused of.
The court agreed to temporarily arrest the man for three months. The sanitary inspection checked water samples from the Sopot water supply and found it to be safe for consumption.
The man was charged with tampering with infrastructure (punishable by imprisonment for a term of six months to eight years), destruction of property (imprisonment for a term of three months to five years), and use of another person's document (fine, restriction, or imprisonment for a term of up to two years).
The investigation is being conducted by the Internal Security Agency.
