Venice Day Tourist Tax to Remain

The Venice authorities have announced that the city will continue to collect a one-time fee from tourists visiting the city for one day without an overnight stay at a hotel.

As reported by "European Pravda" with reference to AFP, this year 54 days will be designated during which visitors will have to pay for a ticket to enter the historic center in advance. In 2024, there were 29 such days. Tourists who visit Venice with an overnight stay and, accordingly, already pay a tourist tax are exempt from the one-time fee - as are city residents.

If a ticket is purchased four days before arrival in Venice, its cost is 5 euros. It increases to 10 euros for those who book it three days before the visit or later.

We will add that those who have visited Venice will say that the amount of the fee is clearly too small to reduce the number of tourists - about the same as a cup of coffee in the city center. And a recent study showed that the number of one-day visits to Venice in 2024 after the introduction of the fee has decreased slightly.

But the city budget is replenished in this way.
