Iran will fight back against the US

The Iranian foreign minister noted that Iran had not requested a ceasefire, according to NBC News.

“We are waiting for them. Because we are confident that we can resist them, and it will be a great disaster for them,” he said.

Iran has not requested a ceasefire, despite US and Israeli strikes across the country.

"We did not ask for a ceasefire even last time. Israel asked for a ceasefire earlier. They asked for an unconditional ceasefire after 12 days during which we resisted their aggression. The fact is that we have no positive experience of negotiations with the United States. Especially with this administration. We negotiated twice last year and this year, and then, during the negotiations, they attacked us," he said.

The assassination of Ali Khamenei has left a power vacuum in Iran, and there are rumors that Mojtaba Khamenei, the son of the former supreme leader, may become his successor.

This could draw criticism within Iran, as the transfer of power from father to son defined the monarchy that was overthrown during the 1979 Iranian Revolution, which led to the creation of the Islamic Republic.

Araghchi said there is a constitutional process for determining a successor.

“There are many rumors, but as you know, we have to wait until the Assembly of Experts chooses a new supreme leader,” Araghchi said, noting that the process may take longer due to the current conflict.

The Assembly of Experts is an Iranian state body consisting of 88 members tasked with selecting the supreme leader.

“As I said, there are many rumors, but no one knows for sure who will ultimately be chosen,” he said.

Aragchi rejected reports that Trump had said he should be involved in choosing Iran's next supreme leader.

“This is exclusively a matter for the Iranian people, and no one can interfere,” he said.
