Keith Kellogg, the US president's special envoy for Ukraine and Russia, said that the quarrel between Volodymyr Zelensky and Donald Trump occurred because of the two leaders' different goals in the Russia-Ukraine war.
Kellogg suggested that the friction between President Vladimir Zelensky and President Trump during a visit to the Oval Office last week was the result of what became apparent were the different goals of the two administrations, European Pravda reported.
Zelensky was trying to convince the U.S. president to further support Ukraine to gain an advantage over Russia.
“President Zelensky clearly wanted President Trump to publicly side with the US against Russia. Donald Trump's approach is not about one side gaining an advantage over the other. As has been said, he is focused on peace,” Kellogg stated.
He said that defining the war in Ukraine as having a winner or a vanquished will only drag America into an endless proxy war, and President Trump doesn't want that.
