Finnish President Alexander Stubb has said that peace for Ukraine is now closer than ever since Russia's invasion in 2022.
According to him, the negotiations include three separate documents. The first of these documents is a framework agreement. It is a 20-point plan that has been discussed among European leaders, Bloomberg reports.
The second document concerns security guarantees for Ukraine and is being discussed between the administration of US President Donald Trump, Ukrainian representatives, and European security agencies.
The third document focuses on Ukraine's post-war recovery.
According to Stubb, the previous version of the framework agreement consisted of 28 points. Some of the proposals concerning European security were completely unacceptable to Finland. However, the negotiations have now moved to a stage where the terms of the agreement appear more acceptable.
Former NATO Secretary General and current Norwegian Finance Minister Jens Stoltenberg said that the path to peace lies in changing the Kremlin's calculations. In his opinion, only an excessively high price can force Putin to make concessions.
