In a joint statement, the interior ministers of the Baltic states, northern Europe and Poland confirmed plans to block entry to the Schengen zone for Russian citizens who took part in the war against Ukraine.
"There are hundreds of thousands of Russian citizens who have fought against an independent European state, and we have to take a very clear position that these people cannot travel freely in the Schengen zone - we will not issue them residence permits, we will not issue them visas, because this whole group that has killed and destroyed there is a very serious security threat to all of us," Estonian Interior Minister Igor Taro said.
The ban on entry to the Schengen zone for those involved in the aggression should remain in force even after the end of active hostilities, ERR reported.
