US bombs Iran for the fifth night in a row

Explosions were reported in several cities across the country, including the capital Tehran, CNN reports.

The series of strikes, launched late in the evening, targeted command centers, air defense facilities, missile and unmanned aerial systems, and coastal surveillance centers.

During the previous wave of strikes on Wednesday, the US struck the strategic island of Greater Tunb, part of Iran's so-called "defensive arc."

Iran announced retaliatory strikes, specifically targeting the Al-Azraq Air Base in Jordan. The Jordanian military reported shooting down eight Iranian missiles; no one was injured by falling debris.
