Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu wants to completely phase out U.S. military aid which amounts to $3.8 billion a year over the course of a decade.

When asked if he believes the time has come for Israel to review and possibly restart its financial relationship with the U.S., Netanyahu answered in the affirmative, CBS News reports.

He conveyed this to U.S. President Donald Trump.

"I want to reduce U.S. financial support the financial component of our military cooperation to zero. Because we receive $3.8 billion a year. And I believe it is time for us to give up the rest of the military aid," he said.

He intends to do this over the next decade. But he wants to start the process now.
