Romania allocates €50 million for weapons for Ukraine

The Romanian government has decided to join the countries contributing to the United States' proposal for a “Priority Urgent Procurement List for Ukraine's Defense” (PURL) with a contribution of €50 million, alongside most European allies and other like-minded countries. The PURL allocation is in line with the 2025 budget ceiling. Romania's contribution to the PURL will help bring lasting peace to Ukraine by strengthening Ukraine's capabilities," said Romanian Foreign Minister Oana Tsui.

Romania's participation in the US-led PURL mechanism directly contributes to strengthening regional security and is fully in line with Romania's commitments within NATO and its Strategic Partnership with the US.

According to the head of Romanian diplomacy, the recent dialogue in the US has given new impetus to achieving a just and lasting peace.

“Romania contributes to European and allied diplomatic dialogue, as well as to joint efforts aimed at creating significant security guarantees for both Ukraine and the region,” Cioiu added.
