Romania may become the key to Ukraine's security guarantees.

According to Romanian Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, Romania will not send troops to Ukraine, but is ready to provide its bases for the needs of its allies, including the US, Calea Europeana reports.

Air patrols are already being conducted from Romanian airfields, where joint exercises with NATO are taking place.

The country's Ministry of Defense added that the country will participate in all decisions made by its allies regarding security guarantees for Ukraine, and that its aviation infrastructure is a key element of NATO's eastern flank.

European countries are calling on the US to deploy F-35 fighter jets in Romania as part of security guarantees for Ukraine.

Currently, the largest NATO airbase in Europe is being built there, which, according to the allies' plan, should deter Russia.
