Russia attacks plane carrying UK defence secretary

The incident occurred on Thursday, as John Healey was returning to the UK after visiting British soldiers in Estonia, the BBC reports.

Russia is behind the attack, which forced the pilots to use a different navigation system. The plane's GPS was disabled during the three-hour flight.

The incident occurred the day after it was revealed that two Russian military aircraft had repeatedly and dangerously intercepted a RAF reconnaissance aircraft over the Black Sea last month.

It is unknown whether Healey was an intentional target. The flight path was visible on aircraft tracking websites.
