US President Donald Trump says he was told Russia "made a mistake" when it struck the city of Sumy on Sunday, killing at least 34 people.
"I think it was terrible. And I was told they made a mistake. But I think it's a terrible thing," he said.
Trump reiterated that if he were president, he would not have allowed the war to start, Ukrainska Pravda reported.
"I think the whole war is a terrible thing. I believe that starting this war is an abuse of power. If I were president, this country would never have allowed this war to start. This war is a disgrace," Trump said.
Asked to explain what he meant by Russia's mistake, Trump replied, "They made a mistake. I believe they did - look, you can ask them."
