Supertankers breakthrough the Strait of Hormuz again

The Singapore-bound Eagle Veracruz and the Greek Nissos Keros transited Hormuz early on their way out. A total of five vessels passed through in both directions, Bloomberg reports.

This marks the first time in a week that 4 million barrels of sanction-exempt crude oil have passed through the strait. Ships exit in groups, with transit volumes declining in the following days.

Therefore, Tuesday's high volume could be offset by a decline in the coming days. The two tankers were carrying oil from Saudi Arabia and the UAE, respectively.

US Central Command dismissed the suggestion that American forces had resumed assisting ships transiting the strait.

It dismissed recent media reports that the US Navy is again escorting or supporting commercial traffic transiting the Strait of Hormuz as false.
