The US State Department has approved the potential sale of repair, maintenance, and logistics services for M777 howitzers to Ukraine.
The total cost of the package is $203.5 million.
The first contract, worth $104 million, provides for the sale of military equipment, repair services, and support for M777 howitzers and related equipment to Ukraine. The main contractor for this contract will be BAE Systems from the United Kingdom.
The second contract, worth $99.5 million, provides for transportation and logistics services. The prime contractor for this contract will be selected from among approved US suppliers.
The Pentagon emphasized that there is currently no information about any compensation agreements under this arrangement.
“This proposed agreement will further the foreign policy and national security objectives of the United States by enhancing the security of a partner country that is a driving force for political stability and economic progress in Europe,” the Pentagon said.
