US President Donald Trump says the US will take control of the Gaza Strip.
"The US will take control of the Gaza Strip and we will work with it. We will own it and we will be responsible for dismantling all the dangerous unexploded bombs and other weapons in the area, leveling the terrain and getting rid of destroyed buildings," he said.
Trump suggested that Gazans should move to a new location provided by one or more Middle Eastern countries, CNN reported.
"I mean, they're there because they have no alternative. What do they have? Right now it's a big pile of rubble," he said.
Trump called the issue humanitarian, saying it was impossible to believe that anyone would want to stay in the war-torn territory.
Instead of Gaza, he suggested giving the Palestinians a "nice, fresh, beautiful piece of land" to live on.
Trump does not see a world in which Palestinians will ever return to Gaza.
