U.S. President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had a tense phone conversation that reflected growing differences in their views on how to proceed in the war against Iran.
Netanyahu is frustrated with the negotiation process, insisting that it only plays into Tehran’s hands, and advocates for tough action, CNN reports.
The Israeli leader considers Trump’s decision to postpone the next strikes a mistake and believes they should proceed as originally planned.
According to an anonymous Israeli official, the disagreements were evident.
Another source in Israel says that many other Israeli officials are convinced that Iran must not be given a respite and are frustrated that Trump is falling for Tehran’s negotiating tactics.
