US President Donald Trump says he has received a letter from President Vladimir Zelensky saying Ukraine is ready to come to the negotiating table as soon as possible to bring a sustainable peace closer, and to sign a fossil fuel agreement.
Trump, recalling the war in Ukraine, said 2,000 people are killed every week - Russians and Ukrainians - and that he wants it to stop, CNN reported.
“Do you want it to go on for five more years?”, Trump asked.
He received an important letter from Zelensky.
According to Trump, the letter said, “My team and I are committed to working under the strong leadership of President Trump to achieve lasting peace. We truly appreciate how much America has done to help Ukraine maintain its sovereignty and independence. Regarding the mineral and security agreement, Ukraine is ready to sign it at your convenience.”
Trump is grateful for the letter, adding that at the same time we had serious discussions with Russia and received strong signals that they are ready for peace.
