Trump imposed duties on steel and aluminum imports

Trump said it was a big deal to make America rich again, The Washington Post reported.

White House senior adviser on trade and manufacturing Peter Navarro said it's not just about trade.

“It's about making sure America is never dependent on foreign countries for important industries like steel and aluminum,” he said.

The White House explained that Trump's actions are intended to help increase domestic steel production as well as employment.

Special emphasis in the administration is placed on limiting China's opportunities in the US market, although the US receives most of these metals from other countries.
