During a telephone conversation, US President Donald Trump told President Volodymyr Zelensky that he wants to achieve peace as soon as possible.
Zelensky hopes that the war will end this year, and Trump replied that the war has gone on too long and that he would like it to end within a month, Axios reports.
The half-hour conversation between Trump and Zelensky was the first since the two leaders met in Davos.
The conversation between Trump and Zelensky was very friendly and positive.
The conversation took place the day after the fourth anniversary of Russia's invasion of Ukraine and the day before the meeting between special envoys Jared Kushner and Steve Whitcoff and Zelensky's negotiating team in Geneva.
