Trump wants to withdraw from negotiations on Ukraine

The decision could be made in the coming weeks, when Trump's attention shifts to the congressional election campaign, according to The Atlantic.

Ukraine is already feeling the window of opportunity for diplomatic initiatives closing. Trump may consider the negotiations politically disadvantageous and shift the responsibility for their failure onto both sides of the conflict.

President Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized that Kyiv has demonstrated its willingness to compromise.

“Ukrainians have persistently tried to demonstrate their willingness to compromise. The tactic we have chosen is to ensure that Americans do not think that we want to continue the war,” he said.

Zelensky added that Ukraine supports any US initiatives that could accelerate the settlement process, but at the same time retains control over its position and national interests.

Trump's withdrawal from the negotiations could significantly complicate international efforts to end the war and increase uncertainty in the diplomatic arena.

With the US elections approaching, the diplomatic process risks becoming a tool of domestic politics, which increases the likelihood of delays or breakdowns in agreements.
