Ukraine and Russian Federation positions are still far apart - Rubio

He emphasized that Russia's war against Ukraine has no military solution, Fox News reported.

“Putin can't take over all of Ukraine, Ukraine can't push the Russians back to where they were in 2014. We know where Russia is now. We know where Ukraine is. They are still far apart. They're closer, but they're still far apart,” he said.

The secretary of state said the peace process needs a real breakthrough very soon, as President Donald Trump will have to decide how much time he is willing to devote to it.

There are more important issues in the world to deal with, he said.

“I'm not saying that the war in Ukraine is not important, but what happens with China is more important in the long term for the world. Of course, also Iran's nuclear ambitions, there are a lot of things going on. So something has to happen soon for progress, otherwise the President will have to make a decision,” Rubio said.
