Deliveries of US military aid to Ukraine may resume after meetings between US and Ukrainian officials in Rome and Kiev.
U.S. President Donald Trump's envoy to Ukraine, Keith Kellogg, is scheduled to hold two meetings with Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov - first in Rome at an international aid conference and then in Kiev. A key issue of discussion will be the resumption of arms deliveries suspended this month, Politico reported.
The U.S. has already informed Kiev of its intention to resume deliveries of engineering equipment and some armored vehicles. Specific timelines have not yet been named.
“The meeting between Kellogg and Umerov in Kiev was not intended to discuss U.S. military assistance and was scheduled even before news of the pause in arms deliveries broke last week,” said Kellogg's spokesman Morgan Murphy.
White House spokeswoman Caroline Leavitt emphasized that this was not a complete withdrawal of aid, but only a pause to see if everything the Pentagon is providing to Ukraine is in the best interest of our military and our men and women in uniform.
The suspended aid shipment included 8,400 155mm artillery shells, 142 Hellfire missiles, 252 guided missiles for multiple rocket launchers with a range of up to 80km, and 30 missiles for Patriot air defense systems.
