Through intermediaries, the U.S. has sent Iran a 15-point plan to end the war, which is largely based on previous demands made by the Trump administration.
The plan requires Iran to dismantle three key nuclear facilities—in Natanz, Isfahan, and Fordow. Tehran must completely halt uranium enrichment on its territory and immediately hand over all existing stocks of enriched material. The document contains demands to limit missile ranges and ensure unimpeded shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, according to The New York Times.
In return, Washington promises to lift sanctions related to the nuclear program. The U.S. and Israel are prepared to assist in the development of Iran’s civilian nuclear project in Bushehr for electricity generation, subject to strict international monitoring.
The plan was conveyed via Pakistan. Iran’s new leadership is currently putting forward counter-demands, specifically the payment of reparations for damage caused during the war.
