Trump will sell “gold cards” to Russian oligarchs

According to Trump, the “gold card” will be a premium analog of the traditional green card. It will cost $5 million dollars and will require a background check to obtain, CNN reported.

“We're going to be selling a gold card. You have a green card, and this will be a gold card. It will be priced at about $5 million dollars and it will provide the same privileges as a green card but with an additional pathway to citizenship. It will attract wealthy people to the United States,” he said.

U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick clarified that the new program would replace the government's current EB-5 initiative, which provided visas to investors.

“Of course, all applicants will be thoroughly vetted to confirm they meet high standards,” Lutnick emphasized.

Trump said that the sale of “gold cards” would begin in two weeks and suggested that millions of people could purchase them.

Asked about the possibility of Russian oligarchs buying such cards, Trump said that “it's possible.”

“I know some Russian oligarchs who are very good people,” Trump said.
