Ukraine to receive seven F-16

Belgium has already decided to transfer more fighter jets to the Ukrainian Armed Forces than previously promised, according to European Pravda.

"We are increasing our assistance to Ukraine. This year, we will transfer seven F-16s, four for spare parts, and three ready to carry out missions in the skies over Ukraine, to defend Ukraine from Russian aggression," he stated.

Previously, Belgium promised to transfer only four non-combat-ready fighter jets to Ukraine for use as a source of spare parts for other F-16s.

Brussels initially planned to deliver these F-16s in 2025-2026, but no delivery date has been announced yet.

The minister believes it is important to transfer serviceable fighter jets, as they have proven themselves to be a good platform against Shahids and cruise missiles.

The Ministry of Defense plans to significantly increase the volume of deliveries.

"I will propose to the government that all F-16s be transferred to Ukraine in the coming years – and this will depend on our receipt of the F-35s. We have a role in protecting the skies, in nuclear doctrine, and we must fulfill this role," Francken stated.

The Belgian Air Force currently operates over 40 F-16s.
