Memorandum
Final approval of the memorandum of understanding between the US and Iran may take several more days due to the lengthy process of finalizing the agreement's wording.
US President Donald Trump said on Saturday that the agreement should be concluded soon; officials tried to temper expectations for its announcement the following day, CNN reports.
How long this will take depends on how quickly Iran responds to some of the US's wording proposals.
The US believes Iran has agreed in principle to the main points of the agreement; disputes continue over the wording, which, according to the official, requires a lengthy approval process on the Iranian side.
The US is still finalizing the wording of several points.
Once all parties reach final agreement, a signing ceremony is expected to take place in the presence of US and Iranian representatives, followed immediately by a round of negotiations on the next phase of the agreement.
