Elon Musk becomes the richest person in history

Prior to the merger, Musk owned approximately 42% of SpaceX, which at the time was valued at $800 billion. He also owned about 49% of xAI, which was recently valued at $250 billion during a private investment round, according to Forbes.

After the merger, the billionaire controls about 43% of the new company, which is now valued at $1.25 trillion. Accordingly, the value of Musk's stake in the new company could be approximately $542 billion.

Overall, this increased Musk's fortune by $84 billion to a record $852 billion.

Musk owns about 12% of Tesla's shares, valued at $178 billion, as well as options on Tesla shares worth another $124 billion. These figures do not take into account the record compensation package approved by Tesla shareholders in November.

Under its terms, Musk could receive up to $1 trillion in stock if the company achieves its so-called “Mars shot” targets — specifically, an eightfold increase in market capitalization over the next ten years.
