The Trump administration has informed members of Congress that it does not plan to fully utilize the $400 million allocated for aid to Ukraine until fiscal year 2029.
In May, the US Department of Defense sent a letter to lawmakers outlining its spending plan. Democrats and some of Trump's Republican colleagues criticized the Pentagon for delaying the aid to Kyiv, which was supported by both parties last year, Reuters reports.
Two months after the letter was sent, the funds have still not been allocated or even secured in contracts.
Congress has repeatedly expressed dissatisfaction with the slow pace of spending.
Members of Congress are dissatisfied with the Pentagon's schedule, which they consider extremely slow given the ongoing war.
According to the delivery schedule provided in the letter, funds will be disbursed during fiscal year 2026, ending September 30, with final delivery of all assistance planned for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2029.
