Finnish President Alexander Stubb believes it is necessary to initiate dialogue with Putin, but he does not plan to serve as Europe's chief negotiator.

He believes that the so-called "Eurotroika" of France, Germany, and the United Kingdom should represent Europe at the negotiations. Countries such as Finland and Norway could effectively facilitate the process by working behind the scenes, according to MTV Uutiset.

"Personally, I don't see myself as a representative in this matter. I believe the major players, namely France, Germany, and the United Kingdom, should lead this," he said.

He noted that now is the opportune time to begin dialogue with Putin, as Ukraine occupies a strong position.

"We are currently in a situation where Ukraine occupies a strong position militarily, politically, and economically. Therefore, I believe it is time for Europe to contact the Russian leadership, or more specifically, President Putin, to conduct diplomatic negotiations," he said.
