"Contacts and relations are in poor condition, but not because of any actions taken by President Nawrocki. But because the Ukrainian side has essentially decided to disregard the memory of the victims and the agreements reached in Warsaw," Bogucki said.

He added that naming a military unit after UPA heroes is unacceptable from a Polish political perspective, according to RMF FM.

"It was simply a bad decision, scandalous, insulting to Poles, and one that affects our memory, the memory of these victims. I hope this wasn't planned, because it would have meant something even worse," he said.

He confirmed attempts to establish contact between the presidents, as mentioned by Marcin Przydacz, head of the Polish President's Bureau of International Policy, but nothing has come of it.

When asked whether there are other channels of communication between the Polish and Ukrainian presidential administrations, he replied: "Diplomatic channels are always functioning."
