European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has responded to US President Donald Trump's executive order imposing 25 percent tariffs on steel and aluminum imports.
On February 10, Trump imposed 25 percent duties on U.S. steel and aluminum imports, European Truth reported.
Von der Leyen said she deeply regretted the U.S. decision and noted that tariffs are taxes and that is bad for business, even worse for consumers.
“Unjustified tariffs against the EU will not go unanswered - they will trigger firm and proportionate countermeasures. The EU will act to protect its economic interests. We will protect our workers, businesses and consumers,” she assured.
